Spicy Steamed Fish

I discovered this recipe by just being a little creative, what with the “losing weight” New Year resolution! I couldn’t just eat plain steamed fish, so I added a bit of salt and pepper. Then I added a few more herbs and spices and that’s it. It was so succulent and tender, so much nicer than my oven-baked version. I thought fish alone would not fill me up, so I quickly chopped and stir-fried some veggies whilst the fish was steaming. There you go, a healthy spicy lunch made in just 10 minutes!

This spicy steamed fish recipe is a great way of eating healthy fish without compromising on flavour. To make the meal more substantial you can serve it with some stir-fried chopped veggies!

  1. Place the fish in a steamer on a very low heat
  2. Chop the veggies
  3. Heat the oil
  4. Add the spices but not the herbs and cook for 30 seconds to let out the aroma of the spices
  5. Now add the veggies and stir-fry on a high heat
  6. Add a splash of water and keep stir-frying on a heat for 5 minutes
  7. Switch off the heat
  8. Check the fish after 10 minutes of placing in steamer
  9. It should be flaky and not translucent
  10. Plate up the fish and serve with the stir-fried veggies
