Poached Egg

Most Asians I know that eat eggs, usually eat them as part of a delicious omelette with green chillies and onions. I enjoy omelettes too but sometimes I want something with eggs thats so healthy with not a single drop of any type of oil, thats when I make myself a poached egg. The joy of cutting into a perfectly poached egg is heavenly, so much so, I end up poaching another one soon after!

Cook time: 3 mins
Total time: 5 mins
Serves: 1
The perfect poached egg truly makes for a great breakfast. With not a single drop of oil, you can feel you’ve had something deliciously healthy!

1 fresh free-range egg
1/2 tsp white wine vinegar
a pinch of sea salt
a pinch of cracked black pepper
a pinch of chilli flakes


Boil some water in a pan
When boiling, add the vinegar and swirl the water arounf
Crack open the egg into the boiling water
Leave in the water for 2-3 minutes ie. until the appears to be cooked, not stringy but firm
