Cardamom coffee for me is a luxurious but healthy latte with crushed cardamom giving a surprising Indian twist to a traditional latte!
This coffee (without the cream) takes me back to the times I visited Pakistan as a child, where being guests from abroad, we were served with a delicious cup of elaichi coffee in the host’s finest bone china. The lovely aroma made me impossibly impatient, so to let it cool, I poured into the saucer and gulped it down! Anyone else would have been given a “bottle” of fizzy pop, but as foreigners we were deserving of home made elaichi coffee making us feel really welcome.

This lovely milky cardamom coffee has a sweet, pungent aromatic flavour and makes for a deliciously filling cup of coffee any time of day.
4 crushed cardamoms
1 cup of milk (can use semi-skimmed)
1 cup of water
2 tsp sugar (adjust to suit)
1 tsp coffee
squirty cream (optional)
chocolate sprinkles (optional)
Place all of the ingredients except cream and sprinkles, in a milk pan and simmer
Once piping hot strain into mugs
Decorate with cream and sprinkles
